Los recursos naturales son los materiales y sistemas ambientales que se dan de forma natural y sustentan toda la vida. Incluyen el suelo, el agua, el aire, las plantas, la fauna silvestre, los bosques, los pastizales y los minerales. Estos recursos proporcionan agua potable, alimentos saludables, hábitat para la vida silvestre, oportunidades recreativas y constituyen la base de la agricultura y las economías locales.
Los recursos naturales son la esencia de la misión del distrito de conservación. LCCD colabora con propietarios de tierras, productores y miembros de la comunidad para proteger y mejorar estos recursos mediante iniciativas de conservación voluntarias y lideradas localmente. Al promover suelos saludables, conservar el agua, restaurar el hábitat de la vida silvestre y fomentar la gestión sostenible de la tierra, LCCD contribuye a garantizar que los recursos naturales sigan siendo productivos y resilientes para las generaciones futuras, al tiempo que atiende las necesidades de las comunidades actuales.

Plan for 2026-2027: Fence the spring fed pond so that cattle do not have access to this and fix some of the pipe that is filling up the adjacent pond that is used for pumping out livestock water. Important wildlife species noted using this pond include red winged blackbird, duck species, tadpoles and frogs, elk, and antelope. Discussed the potential use of a drop inlet on this pond to increase water flow into the adjacent livestock pond .

Started in 2024, on going for a few more years. Monitoring aquifer recharge and stream channel for changes for volumetric benefits and army corps requirements for 5 years using transducers and survey data.

Project started and completed in April- June 2024. Reveg took 2 summers. Continued monitoring for volumetric benefit and army corps requirements for 5 yrs. Project is stable and functioning as engineered – proving stream restoration raises water table through sinuosity. Monitoring through transducer (piezometer info)

The Gutter Bin Project provides stormwater filtration via a bag that drops in the storm sewer. It removes
pollution, including physical trash, heavy metals, and sediment, from flowing water and drops it into a drop inlet or curb inlet. LCCD, in partnership with Rotary Clubs of Cheyenne and the Cheyenne Board of Public Utilities, initially put in 14 bins, and the city has since expanded that number. This program was in direct support of the Crow Creek Watershed Improvement Plan.
