Crow
CreekThe Crow Creek Watershed Plan is a locally developed management plan to address fecal coliform and ammonia impairments in Crow Creek. The plan underwent a public comment period and was approved by the Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality in March 2004. Amendment to the Crow Creek Watershed Plan (19.96 MB)
Planning Process
The
Laramie County
Conservation District Board of Supervisors selected the
steering committee based on an
application process. Each committee member represents a
government agency or group of stakeholders in the watershed.
In developing the watershed plan, the committee came to
consensus on a vision statement, mission statement, goals and
objectives for the management of the watershed. The
committee also provides guidance to the conservation district
on monitoring sites, best management practices and local
issues.

Amendment
In 2004, two reaches of
Crow Creek in the Pole Mountain Area of the Medicine Bow
National Forest were listed by the Wyoming Department of
Environmental Quality for fecal coliform bacteria impairments.
When the Crow Creek Watershed Plan was completed there were no
identified water quality concerns in the upper portion of the
watershed. As a result, the plan does not identify any
specific actions for these reaches of Crow Creek. The
Crow Creek Watershed Steering Committee recommended working
with stakeholders in the Pole Mountain Area to develop an
amendment to the watershed plan that would identify the
concerns of the Upper Crow Creek Watershed.
The Upper Crow Creek Watershed Steering Committee represents the various uses in this portion of the watershed. Representatives from Wyoming Game & Fish, Curt Gowdy State Park and the Medicine Bow National Forest are working with the committee to provide technical assistance.

The steering committee provided a draft plan for public review in the fall of 2006. After responding to public comments, the committee finalized the watershed plan and submitted the document to the local conservation districts for approval. The Boards of Supervisors from the Laramie County Conservation District and the Laramie Rivers Conservation District approved the final Amendment to the Crow Creek Watershed Plan in February 2007. The Wyoming Department of Environmental Quality signed the plan in December 2007 and the action items are being implemented at the local level.
